PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST

May 24, 2008

Entries will be received at Gustine City Hall on Thursday, May 22, 2008  from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.  Each entry will be identified with a label attached to the photo by the entry committee at registration.  Labels are available around town and at registration.  Any reasonable size photo will be accepted.

 

DIVISIONS                         Youth - through 12th grade

                                                Adult

CATEGORIES       People - Pictures of adults or children including portraits,  candid shots, people in sports, etc.

                                                Picture Story - 1 to 6 prints mounted on one board which tell a  story (with or without captions)

                                                Animals - Includes everything from whales to insects.

                                                Scenic - Mountains, towns, airplanes or ships, cows grazing, etc.  The subject is the scene, not an    

                                                incidental object.

                                                Still Life/Tabletop - artistic composition and lighting are  generally the primary concern and 

                                                usually a planned composition.

 

Pictures must have been taken within the last two years by the individual named on the entry form.

1.  Unlimited entries in each category.

2.  Entry fee is $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for youth.

3.  NO FRAMES.  All prints must be mounted on art or poster board or matted.

4.  Rosettes and cash prizes will be awarded for Best of Show, Best of Youth and People's Choice.  Ribbons for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be awarded in each category for each division. Depending on availability of funds, small cash awards will also be made for blue ribbon winners.

5.  Entries may be for sale during the show.  A 10% commission will be retained by the Gustine Homecoming Committee for the Homecoming fund.

6.  The committee reserves the right to decline any photo judged to be objectionable or inappropriate, or to change categories of entries as deemed appropriate.

7.  Every reasonable precaution will be taken to protect entries;  however, no responsibility is assumed by the City of Gustine or the Homecoming Committee for loss or damage from any cause.

ART SHOW

Paintings must have been done within the last five years by the individual named on the entry form and not previously exhibited in a Gustine Homecoming show to be eligible for competition.  Other entries are welcome "For Exhibit Only."

 

            1.            Entry fee $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for youth.

            2.            All entries should be framed with some sort of hanger.

            3.            Ribbons for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be awarded in each category for each division.  

                          Rosettes and cash prizes will be awarded for Best of Show, Best of Youth, and People's Choice.

                          City of Gustine or the Homecoming Committee for loss or damage from any cause.

DEADLINE.   Entries will be received at Gustine City Hall on Thursday, May 22, 2008, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.

 

DIVISIONS:            Professional     Anyone who teaches or sells paintings on a regular basis, regardless of years of experience.

                              Advanced        Non-professional who has been painting for more than three years.

                              Novice             Non-professional who has painted for three years or less.

                              Youth               Grades 12 and under.  Works will be grouped by grades depending on number of entries.

 

CATEGORIES:              Oil/Acrylic

                                    Watercolor

                                    Pastel

                                    Drawing (pen & ink, pencil, charcoal, etc.)

                                    Other (mixed media, collage, sculpture, etc.)

 

  PICKUP TIME:  Saturday, May 24 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
